Fail-safe Party Face

One of the best things about being a girl is the inherent right to prettiness we all possess. There is so much about femininity that is to be celebrated & one of my all-time favourite ways to do so is to apply a fail-safe party face...I defy anyone to try it and not to feel sparkly & pretty.

Perhaps the true beauty of this look is that it works regardless of age, colouring or mood. It's as simple as...

{winged liner}
plus
{bright lip}

& equates to instant happy glamour - would could be prettier?

Wedding talk:: Gifts of Thanks

This week I have been on the hunt for the perfect thank you gift for my bridesmaids. It's still 4 months out from my big day & yet already I have so much to thank them for...this little power posse have been nothing short of amazing with their recommendations, research & support {their tolerance of my never-ending wedding-prep talk alone deserves to be congratulated!}.

Here are three of my favourite finds from the always-inspiring etsy - each sweet, unique & fitting for your ultimate behind-the-scenes supporters.

A chic kimono is a beautiful option for lounging around in the morning of the wedding...perfect for the girls to wrap themselves up in while they're sipping champagne & waiting for hair & make up. Plus, having them all matching will make for a super cute photo!

A delicate, personalised bracelet is a sweet momento they can wear for years to come. These ones are filled with 14 kt gold & come with a pearl charm extender. Guaranteed, each time they slip it on they'll be flooded with memories from the day.

These adorable, dusty blue ring-holder dishes are a beautiful gift option that is not only pretty, but functional. A glamorous place for the girls to leave their own precious rings!

Audrey, post wash-&-blowdry at Dogue {loving life}.

Desk candy: Kikki. paper clips, makes paperwork that much more fun.

Have a beautiful weekend.

Gently does it:: AEOS Cleansing Oil

While the ritual of lathering up & cleansing with a foaming wash for a super-clean finish is beautiful on the body, when it comes to the delicate, sensitive skin on the face & décolletage, sometimes you need something a little gentler. I recently switched from my long-time favourite AHA-based cleanser & started (somewhat nervously at first) with a Cleansing Oil. Despite my reservations {would my combination-prone-to-breakout complexion cope with more oil?} this little routine is now a much loved part of my day.

While it seems natural to think that applying an oil directly to the skin may result in excess sebum, in fact the opposite is true. We all know that oil & water don't mix & that like attracts like, so what actually occurs with oil-based cleansing is that the product works to dissolve excess oil in the skin, gently cleansing pores & ridding impurities in the process. Considering that many cosmetics, foundations in particular, are oil-based, it's also a perfect option for removing make up.

The phenomenal product that has stolen my heart? AEOS's Cleansing Oil De-Maq. This luxuriously-scented, golden oil is created with a potent blend of organic & biodynamic Spelt, Jojoba, Grape Seed, Sesame Seed, Avocado and Rosewood oils & is a complete joy to use. Just a few drops of this exquisite product in the palm of my hand is enough to cleanse my face & neck...leaving my skin feeling deeply clean & cashmere-soft. It's a product that not only treats your skin, but that elevates cleansing from an everyday essential to a luxurious ritual.

Have you tried cleansing oils? Are you hooked?

Postcards of Beauty: Hong Kong

Last week I posted about the new feature I am introducing to Beautyzest, a monthly post in which I'll introduce readers from across the globe & provide a peek into their beauty routines. I am so excited to announce that we have our first...let's begin!

Our first international beauty is the gorgeous & insanely talented Kavita from Hong Kong....

Name: Kavita Devi Faiella

Lives: Hong Kong

I fill my days with: Wine. I am the wine director for The Press Room Group - a restaurant group with 12 different restaurants throughout the city, so my days are filled with all things vinous.

But if I wasn’t working, I would: Be at the beach. Having been born in Sri Lanka and growing up in the southern beaches of Sydney - it is my favorite place, no matter where in the world. There are lots of great secret beaches in Hong Kong - its one of the things I love most about the city.

Describe your skincare routine…I use Aesop products - I am addicted to them and completely infatuated with the way each product smells. At the end of the day I use their make up remover, Parsley Seed Cleansing Oil, B & Tea Balancing Toner, and then their Anti Oxidant Face and Eye Serum. Once a week I use their Primrose facial cleansing mask and once a month I spoil myself by having a facial at their concept store in Soho.

When do you feel most beautiful? After a day at the beach. Skin glowing, tanned and moisturized with body oil. It makes me wish it were the weekend everyday.

My couldn’t-live-without product: Blush! i can't leave the house without blush - even when I'm exercising.

Favourite fragrance: Oh - there are so many. I am a fragrance freak. As a sommelier I am obsessed with the way things smell and I collect perfumes from all over the world.
At the moment - as it is summer here in Hong Kong I am wearing Bal D'Afrique by Breydo a Swedish perfume house. It smells of Bergamot, Lemon, Neroli, African Marigold, Violet, Jasmin, Petals, Cyclamen.

For me, happiness is: Sitting around a table with my favorite people eating good food and drinking good wine.
